An internship at Ghana COCOBOD became an unexpected turning point for Godfred Owusu, a third-year English student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi offering early exposure to corporate culture and professional communication.
For Owusu, the placement marked his first experience in a corporate work environment. Unsure of what to expect, he said he was welcomed by a professional team that provided guidance throughout the internship.
From the outset, Owusu said he focused on learning, asking questions, observing workplace routines, and paying close attention to how communication and teamwork shaped daily operations.
Over the course of the month, the experience offered practical insights into professionalism beyond the classroom.
He said the internship also created opportunities to build relationships with staff, many of whom shared advice on career development and navigating professional life.
The exposure, he added, gave him a clearer understanding of how corporate institutions in Ghana function, as well as the importance of discipline and consistency in the workplace.
“Ghana COCOBOD’s guiding environment and supportive team played an important role in my growth,” he said.
Owusu described the experience as a defining moment that strengthened his confidence and sense of direction.
By approaching the internship with openness and commitment, he said he transformed a programme requirement into a meaningful step toward his future career.
